Buyer I – Contract, Hiring Now

A defense contracting company is seeking a Buyer I in the Roanoke, VA area who will play a crucial role in evaluating requisitions for custom nonstandard items. This company is known for its commitment to quality and innovation in the aerospace industry.

Shift of the Buyer I:
Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Rate/Salary of the Buyer I:
$29.00 per hour.

Responsibilities of the Buyer I:

  • Evaluate requisitions and confer with technical personnel on specifications and alternatives.
  • Issue purchase orders and work with suppliers on material deliveries.
  • Negotiate quotes from suppliers for optimum pricing and terms.
  • Establish preferred suppliers and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure compliance with company and government regulations.

Qualifications of the Buyer I:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0 to 1 years of experience or Associate’s degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and military specifications.
  • Understanding of product technology and supplier status.
  • Experience in the aerospace or military industry is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
