Automation and Controls Technician – Direct Hire

A leading manufacturer in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a skilled, hands-on Automation and Controls Technician to keep automated equipment and control systems running at their best. In this role, you’ll troubleshoot PLCs, motor drives, and automation systems, perform preventive maintenance, and support new equipment installations from startup through commissioning. 

Pay Rate of the Automation and Controls Technician:
$30.00 – $35.00 per hour.

Schedule of the Automation and Controls Technician:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 or 8:00 AM to 4:00 or 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities of the Automation and Controls Technician:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs and other automated control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, overhaul production machinery, and help build and test experimental equipment.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support for manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot motor drives, controllers, and related electrical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Assist with the installation, startup, integration, and commissioning of new equipment and control systems.
  • Support internal engineering, maintenance, and process improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures while performing assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications of the Automation and Controls Technician:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a certificate in an electrical-related field.
  • Proficiency with PCs and Rockwell Automation systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, industrial sensors, and Relay Ladder Logic.
  • Experience with PanelView, FactoryTalk, or other Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming platforms.
  • Experience performing and documenting preventive and non-routine maintenance activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
