Applications Engineer – Direct Hire
A well-known company in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a driven, technically sharp Applications Engineer to fuel business development and bring new programs to life. In this role, you’ll provide the technical sales expertise that helps win new programs, then introduce those programs to manufacturing sites while driving continuous improvement across their full life cycle.
Pay Rate of the Applications Engineer:
$80,000 – $85,000 annually.
Schedule of the Applications Engineer:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 or 8:00 AM to 4:00 or 5:00 PM. May be required to stay late as business needs require.
Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer:
- Provide technical sales expertise to support business development in winning new programs and introducing them to manufacturing sites.
- Interact with customers to determine and understand their requirements, both explicit and implied.
- Prepare technical proposals that meet customer needs, along with cost estimates that support quotes and proposals.
- Create internal and deliverable technical material, data, and documentation, and assist with training.
- Prepare cost, resource, and schedule plans and budgets, and execute to them in collaboration with the team.
- Assess existing processes — both qualitatively and quantitatively — on a rolling, continuous basis and drive improvements.
- Recommend and prepare justifications for process, technology, and equipment improvements and acquisitions.
- Perform other functions or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications of the Applications Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, plus 5 years of related experience.
- CAD experience.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Autodesk Design.
- Experience using and interacting with ERP systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical and planning problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer relationship skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to travel 20–50% for customer and supplier meetings.
- US Citizenship required.
