The leaves on the ground are drying out and crunching, college students are coming home for the holiday weekend and the “Black Friday” ads are starting. It’s almost Thanksgiving; a time to over-eat, laugh, spend time with family and friends, play football and realize how much we have to be thankful for.
I’m proud to be part of the “Thanksgiving on DAVIS” program. Each year we ask our employees what they’re thankful for and we pick 12-15 winners nationwide to provide a Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings.
The replies from our employees are heartfelt and genuine, and remind us how lucky we are to work with so many people from different backgrounds and life experiences. Whether eloquently written, or shared stories about surviving hardship, the responses truly remind us what this season is all about.
We’ve provided dinners for those who have lost homes due to fire, who have lost family members, who have recovered from illnesses, who are welcoming family from a great distance, to those who have moved here from afar and appreciate this country we call home, to those who’s families are just starting out, to those with extended families and their careers are winding down.
The smiles and stories are why we do it. We’re lucky to be able to help provide these meals to the people who work so hard at our clients’ locations and represent DAVIS everyday. These people are the reason we come to work. Hearing their stories and thanks reminds us that the holidays are about appreciating those around us and remembering how lucky we are to share the holidays with our friends and family.
Here’s a few of our Thanksgiving on DAVIS recipients. Please share with us what you’re thankful for in the comments below.
