Nailing Down your Hiring Needs for 2022

The mass exodus of employees in virtually all industries likely is impacting your company. Unfortunately, the struggle to hire talent is likely to continue throughout 2022. This is why you should be thinking about your organization’s hiring needs now. The sooner you create and implement a hiring plan, the sooner your job openings can be filled.

Anticipate Your Headcount

Determine how many positions you may need to fill during the first quarter of the year. Be sure to include room in your budget to accommodate your hiring needs. You want to begin recruiting as soon as possible, even for roles that do not need to be filled right away. Keep your pipelines active and candidate pools filled so you have potential applicants in mind.

Meet with Your Recruitment Partners

Talk with your internal and external recruiters to discuss your hiring needs. Include your candidate qualifications and whether you have any niche roles to fill. Also, talk about how to maximize your recruitment team’s expertise, experience, networks, and skills to best mine for talent.

Focus on Your Brand

Join your recruitment team in objectively looking at your brand identity and brand experience for your employees. Consider what your unique selling proposition is, what sets you apart from the competition, and why job seekers would want to work with you. Also, go through your employer reviews on Glassdoor and similar sites to see what your company’s online reputation is like. Find ways to address any issues you may find.

Develop a Promotions Plan

Work with your recruitment team to create a plan to sell your open roles to job seekers. Consider what candidates are looking for in employers and what your company can do to find and keep the best talent. Then, develop compelling messages that draw job seekers to your organization. After that, come up with the most effective ways to reach candidates. This may include job postings on your company website, social media platforms, or other channels. Implement your top ideas.

Move Quickly

Because the best talent is likely receiving multiple job offers, you need to make fast decisions throughout the hiring process. Be sure to keep your candidates engaged through ongoing communication about where they are at, when they should hear from you by, and what the next steps are. Also, answer any questions and provide feedback in a timely manner to maintain interest in both the role and company.

Evaluate Your Results

Continuously evaluate what is and is not working in your hiring process. Perhaps one source is receiving a significant number of qualified applicants and another is not. Or, you may be losing candidates during the interview process because they are not hearing from you enough and decide to look elsewhere. Modify your hiring process as needed.
