It’s hard to believe that we are in the final months of 2014, and that in just under 3 months we will be halfway through this decade! This is the time of year where we can all see light at the end of the tunnel; we know the goals that were set at the beginning of the year and by now we all should have a grasp on what needs to be done to accomplish those goals, personal or professional.
All the greatest sports teams, boxers, and race horses are great because they finish strong and deliver when it counts most – when the pressure is on. All the greats never look back and finish what they set out to accomplish. The same mentality should be applied in business. The business world is as competitive as it gets, each day you compete against other companies, the market and yourself. We have an incredibly competitive environment and culture at DAVIS, we want to be the best individually but we want to be the best company collectively.
Right now we are heading into the final stretch at the Belmont Stakes, the final rounds of a heavyweight bout, and the team’s final 2 minute drill drive to win the game. An organization with strong leadership and a, “I want to be great – I want to be the best” mentality will be left standing tall at the final whistle. What is your approach heading into the end of the year? Does your organization have a rally cry?
