Design Engineers – Direct Hire – Multiple Openings

 A company that operates in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for Design Engineers in numerous locations including Columbia, SC; Roanoke, VA; Ashville, NC; and Atlanta, GA. These are direct hire opportunities! 

Responsibilities of the Design Engineer:

  • Perform conceptual and detailed design services for various substation engineering projects, with moderate supervision.
  • Perform substation design tasks, develop design drawings and documents, prepare material lists, perform field reviews, and other tasks for projects.
  • Prepare substation related drawings such as one lines, plan views, electrical assemblies, structural details, foundation details, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other engineering drawings.
  • Perform calculations, reports, and designs on substation projects to support engineers.
  • Understand client standards and complete projects by performing simple to moderately complex tasks, exercising judgment in design criteria, evaluation, and design.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines and work to identify and resolve potential design issues.
  • Contribute to a safe environment for substation personnel, contractors, and the public.

Requirements of the Design Engineer:

  • EDUCATION: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) and 2 to 4 years of experience, or 5 to 10 years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering.
  • Understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission, and distribution) system.
  • Proven AutoCAD or MicroStation skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office based applications.
  • Ability to constructively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%. Overnight stay may be required.
