Go for the Gold: 4 Steps to Live Like an Olympian

olympianOlympians are the best of the best when it comes to athletic competition. With the Winter Olympics just over a week away, I want to dedicate this week’s blog to being the best at whatever it is you do.

  1. As any Olympian would probably tell you, set goals. Here at DAVIS we set both personal and professional goals. As a staff we discuss our goals, write them down and post them as a reminder. For me, when I write it down the task is set in stone and must be done!
  2. Listen to your coaches. You have managers and mentors for a reason. Utilize them. Listen and take advice from those who have been there, done that this will allow you to find your own way in the business and understand the “game.”
  3. Train and practice, practice, practice. You must be all in if you want to be best of the best. Give it 100% percent every day. By practicing new strategies you will only advance those skills.
  4. JUST DO IT! Go out there and perform like it’s your J-O-B. Attack every day with a clean slate, while remembering those initial goals you set for yourself.

And just for good measure, here are some motivational quotes to get you going!

“You can’t put a limit on anything” – Michael Phelps

“Gold metals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.” – Dan Gable

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” Muhammad Ali
