Olympians are the best of the best when it comes to athletic competition. With the Winter Olympics just over a week away, I want to dedicate this week’s blog to being the best at whatever it is you do.
- As any Olympian would probably tell you, set goals. Here at DAVIS we set both personal and professional goals. As a staff we discuss our goals, write them down and post them as a reminder. For me, when I write it down the task is set in stone and must be done!
- Listen to your coaches. You have managers and mentors for a reason. Utilize them. Listen and take advice from those who have been there, done that this will allow you to find your own way in the business and understand the “game.”
- Train and practice, practice, practice. You must be all in if you want to be best of the best. Give it 100% percent every day. By practicing new strategies you will only advance those skills.
- JUST DO IT! Go out there and perform like it’s your J-O-B. Attack every day with a clean slate, while remembering those initial goals you set for yourself.
And just for good measure, here are some motivational quotes to get you going!
“You can’t put a limit on anything” – Michael Phelps
“Gold metals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.” – Dan Gable
“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” – Muhammad Ali
