If you are a hiring manager or a staffing professional you undoubtedly have some jaw-dropping stories about interviews you’ve been a part of. If you are a job seeker you may have stories of your own botched interviews, or may just not know how to interview properly. Here are a few tips to help you feel prepared for your next interview!
Do Your Research
Research the organization! What industry are they in? What products or services do they offer? How big is the company? Have they been in the news recently, any awards?
The more you know about the company and role, the better you will feel going into your interview.
Reflect On Your Experience
You have a description of the job you are interviewing for and have researched the company you are interviewing with. Stop and reflect. How does your professional experience specifically relate to the job description and even the industry?
Think of questions you might be answered in the interview and practice your responses.
Plan for the Day
Plan your trip ahead of time. Make sure you know the route so there are no surprises. Decide what you are going to wear and lay it out the night before. Plan what to bring – your resume, a notebook, pen, and a prepared list of questions you want to ask your interviewer.
Follow Up
Make sure you follow up with your interviewer! Make sure you thank them for their time. Take the opportunity to express your interest in the position and the company. If you felt there was a question in the interview you could have answered better…..now is the time to do it.
So there you have it. Follow these tips and you’ll be ready to crush your next job interview!
