Coming back to work after the holidays can be tough…especially in the northern states. Between short days, cabin fever and a lack of Vitamin D, it can be easy for people to get depressed or dispirited during wintertime. I’d like you to read on below so I can deliver some mind-blowing tips to avoid the Winter Work Doldrums and make it to spring in one piece.

Take on new challenges/projects/responsibilities at work

This is something you should do regardless of the season, but winter is a perfect time to mix up your day-to-day at work. If you get complacent in your job, you’ll be more susceptible to entering the winter work doldrums. Talk to your supervisor and see if there’s anything else you can take on to help your department. Learn a new skill and upgrade your job description going into the spring.

Find an Indoor Hobby

Work-Home-Sleep-Repeat is the recipe for a long a** winter. Pick up an instrument, join a bowling league, take dance classes or write that screen play that you dreamt about in college. Whatever you do, give yourself something to look forward to on a weekly basis.

Exercise Regularly

Get to Know Your Coworkers

You aren’t the only one facing the struggle, so don’t go it alone. These are the people you spend most of your life with. Getting to know them personally is not only mutually rewarding, but will also make for a better working relationship.
