5 Fun Things You Can Do With Your Coworkers Outside of the Office

Just the other day I noticed that it is National Karaoke Week. That got me to thinking of fun things that people do with their coworkers outside of the office. I’m not a big singer or karaoke guy myself, but there are plenty of other things you can organize to get people together and break up the week. Here are some other options for you to consider.

Enter an Intramural or Organized Sports League

There are so many options for this one. Of course, there are the traditional, seasonal sports like softball, flag football, soccer, basketball and hockey; but nowadays you can play more nontraditional sports like kickball, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, skee ball and a host of others. Reach out to your teammates and see what they are interested in. Not only is this a fun way to get out of the office, but you’ll get some exercise while you’re at it.

Do a Stump Trivia Night

Great for smaller groups, Stump Trivia is generally held at a bar and there are plenty of locations that have it weekly. These are a great way to get to know your coworkers over drinks and apps – not to mention show off how smart you are!

Host a Cookout or Pool Party

If you have the space and the means (and don’t live too far away), hosting an after-work cookout or pool party is a fun way to get people together in a relaxed, casual environment. Additionally, it will give people a glimpse into your personal life and strengthen the relationships you have with your coworkers.

Sign Up for a Mud Run & Raise Money for Charity

Let’s jump back on the physical activity train, shall we? This is actually something I’ve done with my coworkers before, and we had a blast. You can find races sponsored by Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Warrior Dash and countless others at various endurance levels. Set a dollar amount that everyone needs to raise for a common charity and people will rally. I personally recommend getting a party bus for the ride back so you all can celebrate your accomplishment together.

Go to a Game

Whatever professional team(s) you have in your region, going to a game is an awesome way to get out of the office and have some fun with your coworkers. Most teams offer discounted tickets if you buy in bulk. Do some research and lock up a deal! Your coworkers will thank you for it.
