Position Summary

The Manager of Quality Assurance is responsible regulatory compliance and oversight of all quality control programs, practices, and protocols for a food manufacturing facility and reports directly to the Vice President, Operations. The Director will provide hands-on leadership to a team of Quality Control Technicians, a Quality Control Supervisor and overnight Sanitation crew, and will monitor & report on effectiveness of process control specifications, testing activities, product specifications, external audits, food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation methods. The Director is responsible for ongoing development of quality techniques and processes for testing and inspecting products and process controls. Conducts research and recommends appropriate changes in methods and procedures.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Overall food safety and quality of products and facility
  • Maintains appropriate quality systems. Assures compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards to include Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), food safety guidelines and GMPs
  • Responsible for all regulatory documentation
  • Investigating customer complaints
  • Receiving and approving ingredients, packaging and supplies
  • Management of product specifications
  • Writing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • SQF Program management
  • Participate in the day-to-day quality assurance of food products produced and shipped
  • Responsible for raw and packaging acceptance and quality monitoring
  • Monitor the HACCP Plan to ensure food safety
  • Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Two (2) yrs. prior experience as a Director, Quality Assurance in a food processing facility
  • Three (3) yrs. prior experience as a Quality Assurance Manager
  • Five (5) yrs. prior experience working in a food processing facility
  • SQF Certified
  • Ability to interpret micro-biology reports
  • Ability to analyze and measure the effectiveness of processes and initiatives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • 18 Years or older
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • LACF certified
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • PCQI certified
  • Self Starter
  • High Energy
  • Strong, Confident Leadership

  • LACF certified within the first 12 months of employment
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Some weekend work required. Participation in all shifts

Work Environment

24-hour Fresh, Frozen and Canning food processing facility, QC Lab Environment


$90-110K based on experience.
