Description

SUMMARY

As part of the Global Infrastructure team, the IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, administration and enhancement of the IT Infrastructure. To provide 2nd / 3rd level support to staff and to assist in driving Infrastructure projects forward and work with colleagues to propose improvements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and support the IT infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain Optos IT security standards across all IT infrastructure items.
  • Maintain and develop IT Infrastructure documentation and reports.
  • Liaise with IT colleagues in UK and NA to ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Management and implementation of scheduled IT Projects.
  • Assist in hardware and software asset management.
  • Maintain proactive monitoring and preventative action systems to ensure high availability.
  • Work with consulting and internal resources on development activities.
  • Provide end user support via helpdesk tickets

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree (or equivalent) in IT or related subject or equivalent education gained through work experiences.
  • Previous experience in a network, server and user support and problem-solving role.
  • Working knowledge of LAN and TCP/IP network skills experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows servers, Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of remote authentication methods (Duo, OneLogin etc.)
  • Ability to administer a 250+ node network including switches and firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of VMWare vSphere environments.
  • Orientation and training of new staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
  • Facilitation and change management skills.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good customer and vendor relationship skills.
  • Awareness of the importance of quality control and customer-driven service for internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to new technologies and assess their potential impact and usefulness in diverse areas within the company.
  • Ability to working on one’s own initiative and time management to progress tasks.
  • Ability to work flexibly within the team to ensure timely delivery of service.
  • Strong team player with flexible attitude to work priorities.
