Description

Quality Engineer

Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer:

  • Coordinate PPAP submission package and act as customer contact for the PPAP process.
  • Support product return analysis and resolution process.
  • Lead / Support the APQP process for program
  • Facilitate root cause and corrective action (8D) systems.
  • Track product quality performance and drive product quality improvement efforts.
  • Design and analyze experiments to support design engineering in investigation of various alternatives or in design validation testing.
  • Support development of FMEAs (Design & Process) to identify and address risks, as well as ongoing updates to incorporate product failures and lessons learned.
  • Participate in design reviews to assure product subsystem quality, manufacturability, and inspectability.
  • Support the Quality Manager as needed in the maintenance and implementation of the QMS and procedures.

Skills, Education & Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with complex electro-mechanical and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrated history of APQP and PPAP implementation.
  • At least 4- 5 years of experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing, or quality.
  • Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality, 8D problem solving, FMEA, control plans, SPC, DoE, statistical methods, etc.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt training/certification is preferred, particularly in DFSS.
  • Proven ability to deliver in a fast paced work environment with minimal assistance.
  • Minitab or any other statistical software capabilities helpful.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10 - 25% depending on customer requirements.
