Description

Our client located in Hingham, MA is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a direct hire basis.  

The Senior Mechanical Engineer works closely with the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Manager to oversee engineered-to-order projects.  He or she is a degreed engineer with a strong analytical background plus advanced design experience in mechanical systems, assemblies and components related to custom high vacuum process equipment used for the thin film deposition and aerospace industries.  The Senior Mechanical Engineer works with project managers, manufacturing, procurement and other engineers and designers to conceptualize, design and analyze mechanical systems and components including pumping systems, thermal control systems and vacuum chambers.  Also, he or she works with the ME Manager to prepare engineering schedules to ensure timely release of design documents to the manufacturing department. 

 

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions) 

  • Prepare engineering calculations, project specifications and procedures
  • Review and approve design drawings and engineering calculations prepared by Other Engineering Department employees
  • Conduct design reviews and prepare design review documentation (Power Point Presentations, Word Documents)
  • Work with sales and estimating to prepare proposals and develop engineering estimates
  • Work with procurement to requisition long-lead and other BOM items 

 

Secondary Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions)

  • Assist ME Manager with Engineering Department initiatives
  • Some travel required 

 

 Level of Skill, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 10 + years experience
  • High vacuum experience a plus
  • Knowledge of the following disciplines:
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Structural Analysis
  • Heat transfer
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Mechanisms
  • Stress analysis
  • Materials
  • Automation and Machine Design

 

Knowledge and experience

  • ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code
  •  Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong computer skills-SolidWorks,AutoCAD,Cosmos,Thermal Desktop software
