Description

Mechanical Engineer

Position Objectives:

Contribute to mechanical engineering of innovative electro-mechanical diesel particulate filters to meet EPA and California Air Resources Board emission standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mechanical designs for diesel exhaust filtration systems

  • Manage product and product improvements from concept to production including all technical and aftermarket documentation.

  • Create 3D models for component and assembly development and determination of mechanical properties such as weight and center of gravity of complex assemblies, and for design concepts in support of advance sales

  • Produce complete 2D technical data packages to support procurement and manufacturing

  • Ensure all CAD data is managed within the engineering Product Data Management System in support of Configuration Management

  • Conduct design and peer reviews within engineering and with cross-functional teams

  • Author and process Engineering Change Requests/Orders for completeness, accuracy and impact across all functions; assist procurement and manufacturing in determining cost and planning effectivity

  • Assist in the continuous improvement of the technology roadmap and the mechanical engineering function through keeping abreast of developments in applicable technologies

  • Maintain good working cross functional relationships and follow-up with other internal teams to ensure that releases are implemented according to the scheduled timelines

  • Mentor junior engineers and interns through demonstrated proficiency in engineering discipline and process control.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • BSME minimum with 10 years experience in product design and concurrent engineering

  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture & Assembly and Value Engineering

  • Thorough knowledge of electromechanical devices and power transmission technologies

  • Experience in electronics packaging, especially thermal management of power electronics assemblies

  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing and fabrication methods, especially sheet metal and welded structures, and the use and specification of engineering materials, especially high-temperature stainless steels

  • High level of proficiency in 3D design with SolidWorks for component and assembly design and production of complete 2D technical data packages

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar FEA simulation tools

  • Good understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and industry standard drawing practices

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Microsoft Project.

  • Detail-oriented self-starter and team player with strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
