Mechanical Design Project Lead (Salary Range is $90-100K/year)

We are currently partnering with a company located near Spartanburg, SC looking to add a Mechanical Design Project Lead to their team. The Design Lead will supervise all mechanical design aspects of a project with external customers, internal customers and design resources. Will also create new designs based on customer requests on schedule and on budget that meet the contract requirements and customer’s expectations. This is a direct hire role which includes 100% paid health insurance for both the employee and his/her family.


  • Supervise the mechanical design effort on various projects delegating tasks.
  • Supervise draftspersons and designers on various projects, both internal and external
  • Perform as the leader in working with other members of the mechanical design project team
  • Ensure mechanical design labor budgets, material budgets, and schedules are adhered to or improved upon
  • Participate with the Project Manager in the development of the project schedule and budgeted hours distribution.
  • Deliver mechanical designs that are on schedule, on budget and meet all customer requirements.
  • Apply working knowledge of common machine shop techniques
  • Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
  • Assist in developing design and department standards.
  • Organize documentation, including quotes, drawing registers, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc. on projects you are supervising
  • Develop accurate cost to complete estimates


  • 6+ Years Project Management and automated equipment design and development experience
  • Experience in the assembly of special purpose machines, automation or robotics.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD package
  • Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
  • Knowledge of the use of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of the use of electrical devices (i.e. switches, load cells, LVDT’s, etc.)
