MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO PERFORM POSITION EFFECTIVELY:
Educational Background:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline; or 5+ years mechanical engineering design experience;
Experience:
•    5+ years in mechanical engineering design;
•    Experience designing and troubleshooting electronics, software or optics
Other Requirements:
•    Willing and able to own the design, test and transfer of major system sub-assemblies
•    Proficient with Solidworks and designing machined components
•    Experience conducting laboratory experiments
•    Experience conducting design verification of sub-systems
•    Experience with lab automation and machine vision
•    Familiarity with precision instrumentation and manufacturing techniques’ for precision components and injection molding
•    Excellent project management, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
•    Experience with new product development/introduction and commercialization processes
•    Ability to self-organize and work with minimal supervision
•    Transfer to manufacturing experience
•    Knowledgeable in DFM/DFA
•    Familiarity with PLM, PDM a plus
•    Experience with Labview, python or C is a plus
•    Fluidic & Microfluidic experience a plus
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a fast paced environment



JOB FUNCTION:
•    Provide technical guidance for interdisciplinary design teams;
•    Coordinate and/or execute architectural design, implementation, and testing of certain major sub-assemblies 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Participate in the activities and timelines of the system design team for the entire development life cycle, including design, specifications, unit functional testing, troubleshooting, implementation and integration
•    Help translate customer needs into technical specifications
•    Carry out complex assignments requiring development of new or improved engineering techniques or procedures
•    Troubleshoot and debug system design, implementation and integration
•    Conduct design reviews and release of mechanical fixtures and assemblies
•    Review mechanical engineering documents and documentation
•    Provide input for design specifications and test plans, solutions and implementation
•    Coordinate and assist in change control
•    Coordinate and assist in design verifications and validations
•    Interact regularly with management to communicate status of milestones and impacts of technical hurdles
