Manager, Automation and Controls Engineering

Description

Our client located in Galloway, NJ is looking for a Manager for the Automation and Controls Engineering group to oversee all aspects of electrical and control systems projects throughout manufacturing sites ensuring compatibility of same across the Groups.

 

This position is on a direct-hire basis. Salary is depending on experience.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Coach, guide and facilitator for all local teams in improving knowledge/understanding of industrial control systems serving equipment.  Support local teams (electrical and Control Systems) as they modify, test and implement solutions to technical challenges.
  • Support process improvement activity by coaching on best control systems solution design. Provide guidance and direction in the implementation of redefined processes to local engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Review and implement best practices and standardization related to electrical and control systems and in accordance to contractual requirements. Encourage collaboration of automation teams to capitalize on group-wide best practices.
  • Collaborate with Corporate automation group by participating in research, analysis, testing and subsequent choice of hardware and software recommendations. Drive consistency between plants by informing, coaching and promoting best practices and standards to local teams.
  • Drive plant improvement opportunities in the use of our MES systems by helping local teams define their current MES information systems and needs. Use analysis of MES information in operations to anticipate and support need for change. Facilitate resulting innovations.
  • Support, coach/train all local SI/MES teams as they install, implement, integrate and maintain solutions.
  • Participate in the development plans and architecture of plant information systems.
  • Monitor new applications and technologies and articulate those technologies to technical personnel
  • Provide support and expertise in project management of automated and information systems and software. Where appropriate, identify new applications for latest (and future) Automation technology and promote continual and sustainable improvements across the Group.
  • Support all MES manufacturing application development and work to improve control of inventory and production reporting processes across the Group.
  • Recommend methods and participate in projects to reduce energy consumption at all sites.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree : Control Engineering / Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
  • 15 years working in manufacturing plants Automation & Control depts, with 5 years management of projects and/or maintenance/control & automation groups
  • Extensive knowledge of Electrical/Electronic basics, Power Distribution, Sensors/Detectors, PLC & Industrial Computers, Motion Control, Vision, HMI/SCADA/MES Information Systems, SQL databases
  • Good familiarity with programming languages: Ladder Logic, SFC, VB.net, C#.net, SQL Queries
  • Familiarity with Common Industry Standards & Practices in Control & Automation (IEC61131, ISA-S88, ISA-S95, OPC, OEE, Lean Manufacturing
  • Very Good communication skills, Project management ability and strong attention to detail
