Waters' Core Research department desires a Chemistry / Chemical Engineering intern to contribute to several of our next generation hardware platforms. You will be a part of a research team composed of scientists and engineers, experimenting with new ideas and creating proofs of concept to demonstrate the feasibility of new technology to be implemented in future instrumentation made by Waters.


  • Design and execution of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry experiments to probe differences in prototypes as well as to flesh out application spaces
  • Maintain detailed notes on experiments done and progress made
  • Assembly and modification of prototypes 
  • Design of new prototypes, concepts, and configurations based on results of experiments
  • Presentation of results at internal meetings


  • Completed or in process of completing a BS/MS in Chemistry; Chemical Engineering students/graduates will also be considered.
  • Some experience operating laboratory analytical instrumentation is preferred. Liquid chromatography and/or mass spectrometry experience is highly desirable.
  • A high level of mechanical aptitude and a comfort level with taking equipment apart.
  • Ability to operate independently.
  • Some programming experience (C, Labview, etc.) is desirable.
  • Some experience with preparing samples is desired. Pipetting and concentration calculations are an everyday requirement.
  • Proficiency in data processing (Excel, Igor, R, etc.) is required.

Car is required for commute, carpool is an option
