We are currently looking for a machinist whom under limited supervision, sets up and operates machine shop equipment to produce high quality machined parts using the most efficient method.

Responsibilities of the Machinist:

  • Set up and run manual lathe
  • Turning, boring, threading, grind cutting tools and machine angles
  • Load, align, and operate machine per work order instructions
  • Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, etc.
  • Prepare tooling for changeover and perform machine changeovers
  • Ability to interpret dimensions and tolerances
  • Ability to accurately use and interpret measuring equipment
  • Maintain specifications by observation and measuring equipment 
  • Consistent output of accurate parts
  • Ensure work area is clean and safe
  • Meet all quality, quantity, and established manufacturing practies to satisfy customer and regulatory requirements
  • Comply with ISO 9001 procedures

Requirements of the Machinist:

  • Knowledge of manual lathe set-up, maching methods, and procedures for all general manual lathe work
  • Ability to use shop mathematics, blueprints and drawings, use of machine speeds and feeds.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving ability 
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions
  • Good hand eye coordination 

Manual Only – If they have CNC great, but they MUST have Manual. 


3 Clausing 1200 series 5 C collet or 6" chuck 
1 Clausing 1300 series  5C collet 
1 Clausing  1500 series 6" chuck 
1 Leblond 8" chuck 
1 Bradford 12" chuck 

What parts are they machining? Large or Small? 
Mostly small, we do have around 5 parts that are 8 to 10 inches. 

How tight are the tolerances? 
Varies. Typically +/-.005. Rarely closer than +/-.001 

Will they inspect their own parts? 
Yes, but they are spot checked by a department machinist. 

How many parts a day should they be able to produce? 
Depends on jobs, between 1 to 200 

Shift / Hours:

M-F Day shift, 7:30 am-4:15 pm
