Staff Mechanical Engineer


The Staff Mechanical Engineer researches, plans, designs, develops, analyzes and tests a variety of mechanical equipment items and systems, including chassis, hardware assembly, installation hardware and installation design.


  • Ability to apply practical engineer science, design and technology.
  • Understanding of current manufacturing processes and how they relate to design.
  • Conceptualize, design and oversea fabrication of efficient complex mechanical systems and analyze for manufacturability and cost.
  • Be able to understand and produce engineering drawings.
  • Create procedures for carrying out various mechanical testing.
  • Communicate changes in design and assembly with management and production staff.
  • Estimate cost to produce design including material and labor costs (assembly and fabrication).
  • Calculate mechanical requirements to meet system design specifications.
  • Understanding of static and dynamic events and how they relate to structural integrity.
  • Ability to design electronic packages for harsh environments and maintain required reliability.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and their effect on mechanical performance.
  • Working knowledge of techniques to mitigate EMI issues.
  • Participate as a lead in proposal development
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Leads a design effort involving additional mechanical resources.


Business Relationships:


  • Consult vendors on components and make final component selections.
  • Investigate and select subassemblies for incorporation into designs.
  • Interfaces directly with Program Management.

Bachelor’s degree required in related degree fields: Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering

Or 16 years of relevant experience

  • ESD
  • Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department.
  • Other: Solidworks Essentials or achieve CSWP certification.
  • Solidworks Simulation basic and advanced (or prove proficiency).
  • Solidworks Floworks (or prove proficiency)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

  • 3D Modeling (Pro/E, Catia, Solidworks, etc. Solidworks prefered).
  • 3D Engineering analysis tools. (ANSYS/Solidworks Simulation etc).
  • Microsoft Office including the use of Excel and an engineering tool.
