Description

Davis National Staffing is hiring Contract Payroll Administrator (6+ month assignment) for an opportunity with a great company in the Merrimack, NH area. Position Description: Payroll Administrator

Performs specialized payroll accounting administrative functions in support of completing all aspects of payroll processing for our site, and back-up support for other sites as needed.

 

Responsibilities

• Work from established payroll accounting or clerical procedures, chart of accounts, tabulated lists or reports, journal entries, ledgers and documented and verbal work instructions to prepare and execute organizational payrolls.

• Compute wage data including rate changes, retroactive pay, time worked, overtime, absences and vacations, and perform data imports and data entry into the Payroll system.

• Report deduction withholding to appropriate agencies.

• Maintain time and attendance records, advising company department representatives with correct record keeping. Make adjustments as necessary, with supporting approval documentation from employees and management.

• Prepare special payrolls when required Calculate individuals' earnings, deductions, and net pay.

• Work with employees and supervisors to reconcile discrepancies in hours, shift adjustments, rate of pay, vacation, sick, leave of absence, jury, military or other absence time.

• Interpret and comply with federal, state, and local statutory time recording and payroll regulations.

• Reconcile payroll support detail to general ledger accounting records.

• Maintain records for sick leave, social security, withholding taxes, insurance, retirement and other miscellaneous deductions.

• Prepare analysis and assist management in the preparation of reports and reconciliation of ledgers, where applicable.

• Assist in supporting payroll processing at other sites in a backup capacity.

• Understand and comply with SOX controls as applicable to Payroll processing and accounting, and support internal and external financial, SOX controls, and operational audits.

• Interface professionally with employees throughout the organization in support of payroll related questions, and with cross functional areas as required for payroll processing accuracy, primarily Human Resources.

• Perform other related duties as assigned and may be asked to assist in other areas of accounting.

 

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates Degree in Accounting or related field and two to four years directly related accounting experience to learn basic procedures and systems, and all related payroll systems and procedures; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Requires PC ability and knowledge of payroll and spreadsheet software, with advanced skills in MS Excel.

• Experience with implementation of new Payroll and Timekeeping systems is a strong advantage for consideration.
