Position Summary:  


This position is dedicated to develop, document, test and aid in the implementation of PLC software for automated control equipment. The candidate will work closely with a Senior PLC Engineer to assess, quote and execute control projects to meet customer needs across various industries.   


This position includes 6 main functions:    

  • Develop PLC control software from system requirements   
  • Review existing PLC code to perform system upgrades and/or modifications   
  • Develop system HMI interfaces to display system status and allow for user input   
  • Assist control system engineers in commissioning and startup of PLC systems   
  • Generate detailed documentation of code/system functionality   
  • Interface with customer personal to define PLC functionality and deploy control systems    


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Develop and/or optimize PLC software for a variety of PLC platforms   
  • Use existing PLC code as a template to upgrade or modify installations   
  • Develop HMIs to allow user interface and control   
  • Collaborate with System Engineers and Project Managers during system commissioning   
  • Support and manage PLC software library   
  • Analyze P&IDs and electrical schematics to facilitate control system development   
  • Interface with customers to develop system requirements/functionality   
  • Interface with customer facility personal to deploy and maintain PLC systems   
  • Effectively plan and manage daily tasks with time critical awareness   
  • Prepare project status reports and summaries as necessary or required   
  • Travel: 20% travel within the Greater Boston area   
  • Cooperate with others to uphold company's Total Customer Commitment and focus on Quality

  •  Knowledge of personal computer (PC) hardware, software and application programs  
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors and co-workers  
  •  Ability to work independently with general directions  
  •  Ability to interface and coordinate with customers and work with onsite personal  
  •  Ability to manage additional tasks as position evolves  
  •  Able to analyze control panel schematics to determine system functionality  
  •  Able to perform loop and control process tuning at customer facilities   


Minimum qualifications:    

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent   
  • Experience with the implementation of PLC control code   
  • Experience with the implementation of HMI interfaces    


Preferred qualifications:   

  • 2-3 years’ experience with the implementation of PLC platforms and distributed control systems
